Almere Hout has it all: peace, quiet and wide open green spaces, but with all the amenities of a major urban centre. The area owes its name to the many forests in the area and is the most rural district of Almere. Some of the spots to live in Almere Hout include the villa park Vogelhorst, the village Nobelhorst and the Oosterwold area.

Oosterwold is an area of extensive farmland for individual and collective initiatives in a green rural setting. 50% of the plots are designated for urban farming. It is the ultimate DIY city development as all inhabitants not only develop their houses, but also collectively take the responsibility for water, road construction and public spaces. When finished the Oosterwold area covers 43 hectares and 15.000 houses. More information can be found here (in Dutch only).
